Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Integration & Cloud) – EL1 Equivalent

 

Contract | Canberra Based | Hybrid Working 

We are seeking Senior Infrastructure Engineers to join a large federal government digital transformation program. This role will suit highly skilled engineers with deep experience in Microsoft Azure integration services, API development, and enterprise cloud platforms.

You will work within a cross-functional technology delivery team to design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing integration solutions that connect critical enterprise systems.

 

Role Details

  • Contract Duration: ASAP start to June 2026 (with 12-month extension option)

  • Location: Canberra, ACT (hybrid – 3 days in office)

  • Clearance: Must be an Australian Citizen with ability to obtain NV1 clearance

  • Hours: 40 per week

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement integration solutions and APIs using Azure services (Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, APIM, Event Grid).

  • Deliver modern, secure web services leveraging OAuth, OpenID, JWT and related authentication schemes.

  • Collaborate with analysts, developers, and testers to build reliable, reusable, and scalable solutions.

  • Conduct code reviews, testing (unit, integration, regression), and performance optimisation.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot integration workflows, ensuring high availability and data integrity.

  • Contribute to cloud architecture, strategy, and DevOps practices supporting automated deployment.

  • Ensure compliance with Australian Government security frameworks (ISM, PSPF) and data protection standards.

  • Produce detailed documentation, including API specifications, deployment procedures, and technical guidelines.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven background in software development with C#, .NET Core, and SQL.

  • Strong hands-on expertise across Azure integration services (Functions, Service Bus, Logic Apps, APIM, Event Grid).

  • Experience with microservices, data transformation and interoperability standards (JSON, XML, REST, SOAP, gRPC, GraphQL).

  • Familiarity with databases, data structures, and integration patterns.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills – able to work with both technical and non-technical teams.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

  • Understanding of government security frameworks (ISM, PSPF).

Desirable

  • Experience with microservices architecture, event-driven systems, Domain Driven Design (DDD).

  • Knowledge of CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Git, YAML, ARM, Bicep, IaC.

  • Familiarity with security testing practices (SAST, DAST) and tools (e.g. Fortify, SailPoint, ServiceNow).

  • Broader cloud exposure including AWS.
