Rare opportunity to work on a high-impact SAP S/4HANA transformation program supporting one of Australia's most critical government service delivery agencies. Multiple Senior Infrastructure Engineer (SAP Basis) roles available across Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide.

THE ROLE

Our client, a large federal government agency delivering essential services to millions of Australians, is seeking a Senior SAP Basis Engineers (EL1 equivalent) to join their team on an initial 12-month labour hire contract with potential extension. These hybrid roles are available across ACT, NSW, VIC, QLD, and SA, with work-from-home arrangements considered for candidates who reside within reasonable distance of a capital city office. A Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance is required — or the ability to obtain one. Start date is 1 December 2026.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Providing senior SAP Basis administration and engineering services across a large, complex SAP landscape
• Performing system installations, upgrades, patching, transport management and lifecycle management activities
• Monitoring, analysing and optimising SAP system performance, availability and reliability
• Designing and implementing high availability, backup, recovery and disaster recovery solutions
• Supporting the agency's SAP S/4HANA transition, including migration planning, system conversions, data migration and operational readiness
• Conducting technical assessments and proof-of-concept activities for SAP modernisation initiatives
• Collaborating with architects, security specialists, project teams and APS staff to deliver platform outcomes
• Mentoring APS employees and facilitating knowledge transfer to build internal SAP capability
• Developing technical documentation, operating procedures and support models
• Participating in on-call rosters and scheduled release shift work as required

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Demonstrated senior experience as an SAP Basis Administrator or SAP Technical Engineer in large, complex environments
• Current SAP certification in SAP Basis Administration, SAP HANA, SAP S/4HANA or equivalent technology disciplines
• Proven experience supporting SAP S/4HANA implementations, migrations or technical conversions
• Hands-on experience with database migration and transition to SAP HANA platforms
• Strong knowledge of SAP transport management, performance tuning, system monitoring and troubleshooting
• Experience with Linux and enterprise infrastructure environments supporting SAP
• Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders at a senior level

NICE TO HAVE

• Previous experience supporting SAP environments within Australian Government agencies
• Experience designing SAP high availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Knowledge of cloud-hosted or hybrid SAP architectures
• Involvement in large-scale ERP transformation or platform consolidation programs
