THE ROLE
Our client, a leading federal government organisation responsible for delivering Australia's electoral systems, is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for an initial contract through to 30 June 2027, with a 12-month extension option. Based in the ACT on a hybrid arrangement, this EL1-equivalent role sits within the Platforms and Application Development Branch and is central to supporting the modernisation and uplift of enterprise and election-critical applications. A current NV1 security clearance is mandatory prior to commencement.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to automate deployment processes
• Overseeing configuration and management of development, testing, and production environments to ensure accurate replication for integration testing
• Applying scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, ARM templates, Bicep, and YAML to drive deployment reliability
• Implementing monitoring and alerting solutions to track performance, availability, and security of applications
• Integrating automated security testing (SAST and DAST) into CI/CD pipelines to maintain solution integrity
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, Cyber Security, integration testers, and system analysts
• Maintaining comprehensive documentation of deployment processes, configurations, and best practices

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
• Extensive hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, including building and maintaining complex pipelines
• Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Azure DevOps or GitHub
• Strong knowledge of Git version control and common branching strategies
• Practical experience deploying and maintaining Azure resources including Azure App Service
• Experience across major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud), including platform administration and FinOps right-sizing
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for system automation and deployment
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex applications across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments
• Experience participating in code reviews and broader software development collaboration
• Active NV1 security clearance (mandatory)

NICE TO HAVE
• Familiarity with enterprise integration platforms and patterns
• Experience working within large-scale government ICT programs or modernisation initiatives
