Stakeholder Engagement Specialist

12 Month Contract Role + 12 month extension 

We are seeking an experienced Stakeholder Engagement Specialist to join a high-performing program team delivering innovative, technology-enabled solutions within a complex government environment. This role will support major project initiatives by providing strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and business transition expertise.

About the Role

As a key member of a multidisciplinary PMO team, you will work closely with project managers, change leads, technical specialists, and external partners to ensure communication and engagement activities are integrated, timely, and effective. You will provide expert advice to support successful project delivery and help maintain a positive reputation across a broad range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver communication strategies, plans, and tailored materials that support project objectives
  • Plan and execute stakeholder engagement activities across internal and external audiences
  • Design and deliver consultation activities, including analysis and reporting of stakeholder feedback
  • Produce high-quality communication products such as briefing notes, fact sheets, FAQs, presentations, and updates
  • Identify and manage stakeholder and reputational risks, ensuring issues are documented and escalated appropriately
  • Build strong relationships with project teams, delivery partners, industry groups, and government stakeholders
  • Monitor stakeholder sentiment and provide strategic advice on emerging issues
  • Ensure governance and approval requirements are embedded within project timelines
  • Act as a trusted advisor on best-practice communication and engagement approaches

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in communications and stakeholder engagement roles
  • Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder or government environments
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement engagement and communication strategies
  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proven capability to translate complex information into clear, accessible messaging
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience working within fast-paced project or PMO environments

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid working model – minimum 3 days per week on site
