Lead Integration Application Architect 

 

Initial Contract Duration: 12 months

Extension Term: 12 months

Location of Work: ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC, WA

Working Arrangements: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days onsite per week, flexible for the remaining 2 days with line manager approval)

Maximum Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1

Citizenship Requirement: Australian citizens only

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Resolve complex integration-related issues across wide-ranging activities with substantial depth.
  • Provide integration advice across cyber, API Gateway, PKI and architectural best practices.
  • Design, develop and support integration solutions using Salesforce, SharePoint and REST APIs.
  • Demonstrated expertise as an Integration Specialist using Microsoft products and platforms.
  • Communicate effectively at technical, business and personal levels.
  • Contribute to enterprise architecture and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Document integration processes, configurations and best practices.
  • Remain up-to-date with latest trends and technologies in Salesforce, SharePoint and REST API integrations.

Criteria

Essential criteria

1. Deep technical expertise with the following solutions: MuleSoft Strong understanding of MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including: API-led connectivity principles API design and lifecycle management (RAML, OpenAPI) Mule runtime engine, connectors (especially Salesforce and AWS connectors), and DataWeave for transformations Experience with Anypoint Studio for building flows AWS & Microsoft Solid understanding of AWS & Microsoft services relevant to integration, for example: S3 or Blob (storage) Lambda (serverless functions) API Gateway EventBridge / SNS / SQS (event-driven patterns) IAM (for security and permissions) Salesforce Good understanding of Salesforce architecture and APIs: REST, SOAP, Bulk API Platform events, streaming API Object model and security/sharing rules

2. Architecture and design skills Ability to design API-led architectures that separate system APIs, process APIs, and experience APIs. Experience designing for scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance. Knowledge of event-driven and synchronous/asynchronous integration patterns. Ability to design secure integrations (e.g., OAuth flows, JWT, mutual TLS).

3. Security and governance knowledge Design and enforce API security policies (rate limiting, client ID enforcement, threat protection). Understand and implement data privacy controls (especially if handling PII from Salesforce). Familiarity with AWS IAM policies, Salesforce security controls, and MuleSoft API Manager governance.

4. Experience with DevOps and automation Proficiency in CI/CD practices for MuleSoft deployments (e.g. GitHub Actions). Knowledge of environment management (Development, Test, Production) in AWS & MuleSoft. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Salesforce debug logs, MuleSoft Anypoint Monitoring).

5. Stakeholder and communication skills Ability to translate business requirements into technical integration designs. Work with security, infrastructure, and business teams to align solutions. Explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

6. Strong troubleshooting and support capability Ability to monitor and analyze logs across MuleSoft, AWS, and Salesforce. Root cause analysis skills for data sync issues, performance bottlenecks, and error handling. Understanding of retry strategies, idempotency, and transactional integrity.

Desirable criteria

1. Experience with hybrid or multi-cloud integrations.

2. Knowledge of additional SaaS platforms often used alongside Salesforce

3. Certification: MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect, Salesforce Platform Developer or Architect, AWS Solution Architect.

4. Experience working in a large Government Dept/Agency is highly desirable
