APS6 Automation Engineer
Location: ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC, WA (Hybrid Work Arrangement)
Contract Duration: Initial 12-month term with one possible 12-month extension
Estimated Start Date: Monday, 11 August 2025
Maximum Weekly Hours: 37.5
Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain Baseline Security Clearance
Citizenship Requirement: Australian Citizens only
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced APS6 Automation Engineer to support major digital transformation and technology initiatives within a large-scale government environment. This role is responsible for designing and implementing automated solutions to streamline the provisioning of Salesforce environments.
The successful candidate will develop custom applications, scripts, and plugins to support automation, contributing to the efficiency and scalability of environment provisioning processes. You will work as part of a cross-functional technical team in a dynamic Agile environment, integrating automation capabilities into the continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Design and develop automation tools such as Salesforce CLI plugins and NodeJS applications to replace manual provisioning processes.
Identify the most effective automation methods, including UI/API approaches or integration with existing tools.
Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues during development iterations.
Contribute to the definition and ongoing refinement of the automation roadmap.
Build, test, and integrate automation into existing CI/CD workflows.
Essential Criteria

Salesforce CLI Automation
Proven experience in building Salesforce CLI plugins for automated environment provisioning in an enterprise setting.
Salesforce Tooling API & NodeJS
Strong background in using Salesforce Tooling API within NodeJS (JavaScript/TypeScript) environments.
Plugin Experience
Experience using Salesforce plugins such as sfdx-hardis and browserforce.
Full-Stack Development
2–3 years of experience developing full-stack applications using NodeJS and frameworks like React, Vue, or Next.js.
Communication and Collaboration
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within teams and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience building Salesforce CLI plugins
Desirable Criteria
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
Passion for automation and driving quality through streamlined delivery.
Enthusiasm for accessibility in design and development will be highly regarded.
