Role: Cloud Engineer

Locations: Melbourne   

Duration: Contract – 12 months

  

Talent Street is looking for a Cloud Engineer for one of our Victorian State government clients.

 

 

 

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

 

Skills and Knowledge

 

  1. Delivery and Operation: High level technical expertise in the support and monitoring of cloud infrastructure and platforms and demonstrated experience working with cloud computing and DevSecOps related products.
  2. Delivery and Operation: Demonstrated experience in general system administration, Unix/Linux administration and associated application support, monitoring/management products and cloud security practices.
  3. Technical Skills: Demonstrated expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) environments, using tools like Jenkins, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.  Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of Splunk Monitoring, OCI, architecture best practices, and cloud security practices. 
  4. Problem-solving: Demonstrated high-level conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
  5. Communication: High-level communication (written, verbal and interpersonal) and negotiation skills to prepare written reports, consult, communicate with, and influence others.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS

 

  1. Proficiency in various Linux distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian.
  2. Strong skills in scripting languages like Bash, Python, and Perl for automation and task management.
  3. Knowledge of security best practices, including system hardening, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  4. Familiarity with tools like Ansible, Puppet, and Chef for configuration management and automation.
  5. Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud).
  6. Database Management: Basic knowledge of database systems such as Exadata, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MariaDB1.
  7. Proficiency with version control systems like GIT for managing code and configurations.
  8. Proficiency in configuring Splunk to ingest logs from cloud environments including configuration of Indexers, Search heads and any other relevant Infrastructure.
  9. Experienced with enabling and supporting DR strategies in a cloud environment.

 

 

HIGHLY DESIRABLE:

 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
