About the Company
Our client, a Federal Government Department, is seeking an experienced EL1 Data Architect for an exciting contract opportunity. This role offers the chance to contribute to high-value ICT initiatives, designing and managing data strategies that support critical government services and national objectives.
About the Role
You will play a pivotal role in overseeing the data strategy, governance, and management of data resources within a Federal Government Department. Collaborating with Solution Architects, Technology Leads, and scrum teams, you will design, deploy, and manage how data is structured, stored, and integrated across IT systems to align with business goals and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Make recommendations on data strategy to mature data practices and enhance the use of data across the department.
- Provide expert input into the development of physical data models, ensuring best practices, security, performance, and future-proof designs.
- Review and quality assure conceptual, logical, and physical data models produced by data analysts to support scrum team builds.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects and Technology Leads to define and implement data integration points and exchanges between systems.
- Administer metadata repositories and develop data models and data dictionaries.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the supervisor and participate in performance discussions as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- Demonstrated experience in developing complex physical data models.
- Proven ability to port data between different data models, documenting mappings and transformations.
- Strong skills in writing complex SQL to support data analysis and specify data migration requirements.
- Experience writing technical specification documents, particularly for ETL processes in data migrations.
- Expertise in developing and implementing data strategies and frameworks.
- Advanced skills in data tools such as SQL, Power BI, and Sparx Enterprise Architect (highly desirable).
- Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Must be able to obtain a Baseline security clearance.
