Role: APS6 – Full Stack Developer

Locations: Open to QLD, NSW, VIC and ACT

Duration: Contract – until September/October 2026 (maximum term of 12-18 months)

Working Rights: Australian Citizens only

Salary on offer: $95,714 + 15.4% superannuation + other benefits

 

Talent Street is looking for an APS6 Full Stack Developer for one of our large clients in the Federal Government.

 

Responsibilities:

This role may include the following duties:

  • Working closely with the project teams to deliver improvements and new systems.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy and support cloud and on premises applications to best meet functional and non-functional needs.
  • Apply best practice for associated application technology stacks, surrounding architecture, and delivery practices.
  • Contribute to development of strategy and roadmaps for technical solutions.
  • Liaise with clients and other stakeholders to understand business needs.
  • Actively monitor and respond to production incidents and problems, applying IT service management best practice as per the division’s policies.
  • Liaise with partners and vendors to resolve critical issues, as well as using their expertise to make informed design and implementation decisions. 
  • Support team members in their work and provide technical coaching and mentoring.
  • Seek opportunities to improve operational health for solutions in availability, performance, security, and efficiency.
  • Contribute to team health by actively participating in all agreed team ceremonies and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the team.

 

Skills and Knowledge:

To be suitable, candidates should have the following skills, qualities, and experience: 

    • Software development skills and experience in front end, back-end, and/or database systems, including relevant ICT qualifications.
    • Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to work autonomously in a geographically dispersed team.
    • Understand and follow Agile principles in the software development lifecycle.
    • Demonstrated passion for developing quality code with an eye for detail.
    • Apply critical thinking to solve complex business and technical problems.
    • Ability to recognise and suggest improvements to systems and business processes.
    • Be security aware in all aspects of the software development lifecycle.

 

As well as experience in at least one of the following (multiple would be highly desirable): 

    • Front-end JavaScript technologies such as Next.js, Vue.js, React, Angular, etc.
    • Knowledge of legacy JSF front-end frameworks is also desirable.
    • Back-end technologies including Java, Python, Spring Boot, Maven, JBoss EAP, and RESTful APIs. C# experience is also desirable.
    • AWS technologies including Lambda, S3, EC2, API Gateway, ECR, CloudWatch, CloudFront, IAM, and associated products.
    • Database development in PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora DB or other similar SQL based RDMS platforms.
    • CI/CD experience with GitLab, AWS CDK and AWS CloudFormation.
    • A strong understanding of WCAG and the Digital Service Standards.
    • Experience in automated testing tools and test-driven development.
