Talent Street are looking for a Senior Communications Advisor (A06) for one of our large QLD State Government clients to join their Communications team across all areas of their business within the North Coast Region.

The current candidate pay range for this position is AO6.1 - $77.02 AO6.2 - $78.82 AO6.3 - $80.62 AO6.4 - $82.40 + 11.5% superannuation
The Communications Advisor will join the Stakeholder Management team is responsible for providing high-level communication advice and support to all areas of the business within North Coast Region and is based in the North Coast Region.
Description:
In the role of Senior Communications Advisor, you will act as the primary point of contact for several projects and lead and implement communication and engagement activities within the North Coast Region.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing complex stakeholder engagement strategies that are inclusive and innovative and delivers on our commitment of genuine engagement on our program. You will manage the priorities, workload and deliverables for projects and ensure critical deadlines and priorities are met. As a senior practitioner you will support with the delivery of timely and high-quality executive correspondence, issues management, stakeholder relationship management, public affairs, and media relations. You will work with a diverse and highly engaged communities and stakeholders in the context of transport planning.
Accountabilities will include:
• Lead, manage, coordinate and draft executive correspondence, community relations and community engagement for projects.
• Develop a range of communication and engagement strategies and activities for projects within the North Coast Region.
• Set and manage the direction for engagement strategies and look for innovative ways to engage different stakeholders.
• Partner with key internal business units to provide strategic communications advice and solutions to meet project objectives.
• Develop communication and engagement materials to execute over a range of internal and external channels including social media, website, online engagement platform, public facing advertising etc.
• Identify opportunities for media and develop proactive media strategies and plans including key messages, media statements and media enquiry responses.
• Provide on-the-ground support during key communication and engagement events, such as public information sessions.
• Monitor and identify key reputational issues and/or risks and develop responses/strategies to mitigate risks.
• Coordinate and manage external contractors/consultant communications teams working on projects.
• Maintain strong relationships and collaborate with project teams to support the successful delivery of communication and engagement services.
• Ability to navigate complex political environments, staying informed of current government priorities and sensitivities while maintaining impartiality.
• Ensure appropriate governance frameworks are maintained and adhered to in order to monitor compliance with policy, legislation, regulations, standards and procedures.
• Provide support, training, advice and support to regional staff, consultants to enhance communication skills for delivery projects and initiatives.

• Developing communication strategies in an environment of competing priorities and often conflicting views and interests of multiple stakeholders, to enhance their experience and perception of the Client.
• Responding to emerging urgent matters and quickly synthesise and deal with issues with multiple competing projects and tight deadlines.
Essential criteria
• Minimum five years’ experience in working in the stakeholder engagement space focusing with a strong focus on the community.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships and manage a diversity of stakeholders.
• Ability to analyse problems and work collaboratively to deliver mutually agreed solutions.
• Provide skills in planning, organisation and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication and active listening skills.
• Capacity to work flexibly, including weekends and evenings as well as on site.
• A political awareness
Desirable criteria
• A tertiary qualification, preferably in communications and engagement accreditations.
• A knowledge of public sector processes and regulatory systems and how government works would be beneficial.
• Experience within the infrastructure or construction industry or similar.
• Understanding of Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia framework and how it applies to infrastructure projects. Preferably Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional qualification (however, this is not mandatory).
• IAP2 certified or willing to attain certification at own cost.
• Experience in a strategic communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector, will be highly regarded.
WORKING HOURS -
Maximum of 38 hours per week Monday to Friday between 6am and 6pm on agreed office days and between 6am and 10pm on agreed remote working days under implemented FWA up to 50% based on business needs after a probationary period. Maximum of 9.5 hours per day paid at a flat rate in a 5-day week during Business Hours as stated above, unless overtime is otherwise agreed by the Customer in advance and in writing. Any timesheet submitted with overtime listed will not be permitted unless prior approval by the Contractors Line Manager.
