THE ROLE

Our client, a large Queensland Government department, is seeking a contract Business Analyst (Cybersecurity) to join their Cyber Security Uplift Program. Based in North Brisbane, this is a contract engagement supporting the delivery of the Essential Eight Uplift Initiative — a high-priority program aligned to the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) Essential Eight framework. You'll work across multiple work packages, partnering with business stakeholders, technical teams and cyber security specialists to drive practical, risk-based security outcomes.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Planning and delivering business analysis activities across multiple Essential Eight work packages
• Eliciting, analysing and documenting business, functional and non-functional requirements
• Facilitating stakeholder workshops, interviews and working sessions to surface business needs and challenges
• Conducting As-Is and To-Be process analysis across people, process and technology domains
• Supporting current state assessments, capability maturity reviews, gap analysis and uplift planning
• Identifying business and operational impacts associated with cyber security uplift activities
• Developing requirements documentation, process models, business rules and supporting artefacts
• Managing requirements traceability throughout the full delivery lifecycle
• Supporting implementation approaches, transition requirements and operational readiness activities
• Contributing to governance, reporting and assurance as required

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Demonstrated BA experience within complex ICT, cyber security or business transformation initiatives
• Proven ability to facilitate workshops and lead requirements elicitation with diverse stakeholder groups
• Strong skills in documenting business processes, requirements and future state designs
• Confident engaging across both business and technical audiences
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills

NICE TO HAVE

• Exposure to cyber security frameworks including Essential Eight, Zero Trust or Secure by Design
• Experience conducting capability assessments, gap analysis or operating model reviews
• Prior experience in Queensland Government or large public sector environments
• Familiarity with Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies
• Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Visio or similar tools
