THE ROLE
Our client, a Queensland state government organisation based in Carseldine, is seeking an experienced Copilot Studio Technical SME / Senior Developer for an initial contract through to January 2027, with the potential for extensions. In this specialist role, you will provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise to support the Power Platform team in maturing Copilot Studio and AI delivery capabilities. You will play a key part in establishing scalable, governed, and reusable agent delivery practices aligned with enterprise standards.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the maturation of Copilot Studio and AI delivery within Power Platform, including delivery pathways, reuse models, support arrangements, and engagement patterns with business areas
• Act as the embedded Copilot Studio Technical SME, providing hands-on expertise across the design, build, and implementation of agent solutions
• Contribute to operationalising Copilot Studio agent delivery as a standard Power Platform capability, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and reusable
• Provide hands-on expertise in conversation design, prompt engineering, orchestration, and AI-driven solution patterns
• Develop reusable patterns, standards, and reference architectures for AI agent delivery via the Power Platform Centre of Excellence
• Manage AI-specific risks and considerations, including data exposure, hallucination, and compliance
• Collaborate with Architects, Security, and governance stakeholders to ensure alignment with IS18 / ISMS requirements, data classification standards, and identity and access management controls
• Advise on Copilot Studio governance and guardrails, including data access controls, knowledge source management, responsible AI practices, and monitoring and audit integration
• Support testing, deployment, and transition to BAU support within the Power Platform operating model
• Provide technical assurance and quality oversight of vendor-delivered Copilot Studio solutions
• Uplift team capability through coaching and mentoring across Copilot Studio development, prompt engineering, AI design patterns, and agent behaviour optimisation
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Copilot Studio, including enterprise agent delivery, conversational design, and prompt engineering
• Hands-on experience with Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse
• Experience guiding organisations through the maturity evolution of AI and Copilot Studio capabilities, including establishing governance frameworks and scalable delivery practices
• Proven ability to transition AI solutions from early proof-of-concept through to governed, production-ready enterprise service offerings
• Experience defining delivery and support models across internal and vendor-based delivery arrangements
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work across technical, security, and governance functions
• Ability to mentor and coach team members to uplift internal AI and Power Platform capability
HIGHLY DESIRABLE
• Experience with Azure AI services, including Microsoft AI Foundry, and integration across REST APIs, connectors, and enterprise systems
• Security and compliance experience aligned to IS18 / ISMS and data classification frameworks, including DevOps and ALM practices for Copilot Studio solutions
• Previous experience in a Technical Lead, Solution Architect, or SME capacity within a large, complex organisation such as the Queensland Government
• Experience with Dynamics 365 and providing technical assurance over vendor-delivered solutions
