Role Purpose

The Cloud Architect role leads and influences the design of complex cloud solutions using AWS and Azure design principles, architectural best practices, and industry standards. The role provides governance, assurance, and technical leadership across enterprise cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, own, and continuously optimise cloud architecture patterns and standards aligned to industry frameworks.
• Review, refine, and develop cloud governance standards in collaboration with central cloud teams.
• Provide architectural guidance and assurance across AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure offerings.
• Lead the design of highly available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable cloud solutions.
• Ensure secure and effective network connectivity between on-premises environments and public cloud platforms.
• Re-architect and refactor complex applications to leverage cloud-native and PaaS services.
• Present architecture designs and patterns to governance and design authority forums for endorsement.

Highly Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience across both public and private sector environments.
• Background in technical, operational ICT roles or large-scale ICT projects.
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture standards and best practices.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale AWS and/or Azure IaaS and PaaS solutions.
• Strong understanding of ICT compliance, security, privacy, and risk management requirements.
• Familiarity with standards such as ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and SOC 1 & 2.
• Strong technical documentation and architectural writing skills.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum delivery environments.
