THE ROLE
Our client, a Queensland Government department, is seeking an experienced Principal Software Developer for a key position within the Public Safety Network Management Centre (PSNMC). Based in Queensland, this role sits within the Network Development team and places you at the heart of a mission-critical ICT environment supporting public safety agencies. You'll lead software development strategy and work directly on new features and capabilities of the PSN portal.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Developing and implementing strategic direction for business application software development across the Public Safety Network
• Setting standards for programming tools and techniques, including Python and JavaScript, and ensuring compliance across the team
• Leading governance processes such as design and code reviews to maintain quality assurance across internal and external deliverables
• Leading analysis, design and implementation of new systems aligned to PSNMC Technical Solutions policy
• Providing Tier 3 application support for PSNMC Linux systems and driving resolution of complex issues
• Advising stakeholders on business system solutions, implementation, transition and ongoing services
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
• Strong hands-on experience with Python, JavaScript (Vue), HTML, CSS and Bash
• Solid Linux OS system development background
• Experience with Web Services and API development and integration
• Proficiency with Git version control via Bitbucket
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL for data retrieval
• Experience with Docker for DevOps workflows
• Familiarity with the Atlassian suite — Jira and Confluence
• Strong understanding of the full System Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
NICE TO HAVE
• Experience with Continuous Integration and orchestration using Jenkins
• Familiarity with Ansible for configuration management
