Principal Technical Specialist – MFA & Identity Security
Fortitude Valley, Brisbane | Full Time Contract | On Site
We’re currently partnering on a major cyber security uplift and are looking for a Principal Technical Specialist with strong experience across Multi Factor Authentication, hybrid identity, and enterprise security environments.
This is a great opportunity for a senior technical specialist who enjoys being hands on, leading technical delivery, and driving secure authentication outcomes across a large and complex environment. You’ll play a key role in modernising identity controls, strengthening security posture, and helping shape a more secure future state.
Please note, this role is available to PAYG contractors only. Applications from PTY LTD / company contractors will not be considered.
The Role
In this position, you’ll take the lead on delivering MFA initiatives across critical systems and applications, with a focus on modern authentication methods, secure identity practices, and technical uplift.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the end to end delivery of MFA pilots across selected applications
- Configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and refining authentication flows using Microsoft Entra ID
- Supporting the rollout of modern, phishing resistant authentication methods such as app based MFA and FIDO2 keys
- Driving the transition away from SMS based MFA to more secure alternatives
- Providing technical leadership across identity security best practice, Zero Trust principles, and modern authentication standards
- Producing high quality technical documentation, analysis, upgrade strategies, and options papers
- Supporting planned ICT changes and updates while maintaining security and minimising disruption
- Working closely with internal stakeholders and third party vendors to support successful technical delivery
- Contributing to enterprise level technical standards, policies, and procedures
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to speak with candidates who bring deep technical capability across enterprise identity and authentication environments, ideally gained within large and complex organisations.
You will ideally have experience across:
- Multi Factor Authentication solutions
- Hybrid identity environments
- Azure AD Connect and Cloud Sync
- Hybrid Join and Azure AD Join
- RADIUS and SAML authentication
- OAuth and OIDC
- Network and server administration
- Technical solution design, implementation, and documentation
You’ll also bring:
- Strong experience working in large enterprise environments
- The ability to engage confidently with both technical and non technical stakeholders
- Strong written communication and documentation skills
- A practical, solutions focused approach
- The ability to work autonomously while also contributing to a high performing team
Highly Regarded
- Industry certifications such as MCSE, MCP, CNE, or CCA
- Understanding of ITIL service management methodology
- Exposure to Prince2 or structured project delivery environments
