Role: IT Infrastructure Engineer (Mainframe, Security Expert) EL1
Client: Federal Government Agency
Location: VIC QLD ACT SA
Contract duration: 24 months from commencement
Security Clearance: Must Hold NV1 (Active OR in progress)
Working Arrangements: Onsite, with consideration for Work From Home after 6 weeks (minimum 3 days/week onsite)

Looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer (Security Expert, Mainframe) EL1 for a federal government agency that is at the frontline of government service delivery, supporting millions of Australians.
Role
The Security Infrastructure Engineering Expert would monitor the application and compliance of security administration procedures and review information systems for actual or potential breaches in security.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Administration: Monitors the application and compliance of security administration procedures and reviews information systems for actual or potential breaches in securit
- Responsible for recommendations, evaluations and deployment of hardware, hardware related software and other related assets and for the support of infrastructure related incidents and problems. Resolve more critical and complex infrastructure related incidents and problems.
- Manage the organisation’s network infrastructure including WAN, LAN, WLAN, firewalls, routers, and switches and the computing infrastructure including data centre, mainframe, midrange, server, and desktop.
- Exercise a considerable degree of independence and undertakes a leadership role, with work being performed under the general guidance of senior management.
Skills & Experience requirements
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in programming Mainframe Assembler, NCL, CLIST, REXX and zSecure Carla
- Deep technical knowledge of CA-ACF2 and IBM RACF security products and their integration with MFA
- Digital Certificates and PassTicket authentication technologies in a mainframe environment
- Good technical understanding of SIEM technologies, specifically in respect to Mainframe
- Ability to develop Use Cases for the ingestion of Mainframe events.
Demonstrated Experience
- Demonstrated ability to co-design and define the security for the mainframe in a cyber security and fraud management context.
- Demonstrated ability in managing and navigating large, complex ICT environments, including in-depth knowledge of network infrastructure elements such as WAN, LAN, WLAN, firewalls, routers and switches, as well as comprehensive experience with computing infrastructure, covering data centres, mainframes, midrange systems, servers and desktops.
- Demonstrate the ability of working independently and assuming a leadership role while effectively managing tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical requirements and effectively negotiate and communicate with technical resources to develop technical solutions that meet business intent.
- Demonstrate comprehensive expertise in the technical landscape design, installation, configuration, deployment, security, and operation of ICT components and databases is essential.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the mainframe is essential, especially in the following areas:
- Revalidating user accesses
- Monitoring super user activity
