Job Description

Role: Content Author

Locations: Melbourne

Duration: Contract – 6 months

Talent Street is looking for a Content Author for one of our large Victorian State government clients.

About the role:

The Content Author will develop a range of communications materials that make it easier for members of the public to use our current services, and to help internal users better engage with systems and processes. The primary focus will be the public user facing assets created as part of a new website. Other focus areas will be the new User Portal and Case Management System.

Responsibilities:

The Content Author will use research insights (quantitative and qualitative) to define user content across different areas. They will ensure that communications materials are accessible, clear and promote understanding for both internal and external users. Adopting agile and iterative design practices, they will translate complex legal requirements and processes in understandable guides for users. A good knowledge of working with Drupal CMS and experience working with a user-centred design team are required.

The Content Author will bring a passion for users, technology, and human centered design to the program, collaborating with business stakeholders, the design team, and the wider project team to ensure our work is understood by our diverse range of users.

  • Work closely with the Web Content Manager to understand highest priority content needs of the organisation
  • Work with senior stakeholders and successfully transcribe their ideas in a manner which is not only easy to understand, but also legally correct.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and perform design research to deeply understand our users, the way they perceive our services and sense-making models. Synthesize insights from this research through reports, presentations, personas, information hierarchy, language guides and other design artefacts for the STP team and stakeholders across the business.
  • Apply research insights to co-design activities and building out web content, explainer guides, FAQs, wireframes for testing, and other content to help users engage with internal processes in a variety of formats.
  • Ensure that content is accessible and comprehensible to a diverse range of users, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people living with disability, and those with varying degrees of literacy.
  • Test solutions with users and stakeholders using the most appropriate prototyping techniques and methodologies.
  • Communicate solutions back to business stakeholders through presentations and showcases, ensuring user needs remain centered in solution discussions.
  • Work with other disciplines and roles as part of an agile, cross-functional team. Encourage and practice knowledge sharing and collaboration within and across teams.
